Back in May, Selena Gomez found herself the victim of something she'd never experienced in her 16-year career: fat-shaming. Photos of the singer looking curvier in a bikini hit the Internet, and she was trolled online and off. 'I'd land at the airport and people would yell out, 'You're fat!' It was awful,' she told Us Weekly. So awful that she sought professional help: 'I've been working in therapy.'
'This was the first year I ever dealt with anyone talking about my body,' the singer—who's been working since the age of seven—said. But the whole ordeal was inspiration for her new album cover. 'Even if I did gain weight, I'm fine. That's what the picture represents.'
'I'm not going to let them get to me,' she said in a radio interview last month. 'I can do what I want.'
