It's said to be the most important meal of the day, certainly the most fun. When else can you drape your meal in maple syrup? Or cover it in a thick slab of butter? Never, that's when.

Here a few ELLEUK.COM editors share their breakfasts - including a few that made our bellies grumble.

'For an Indian Summer late breakfast in the garden the other weekend my girlfriend Jen made us some Danish style open sandwiches inspired by a recent trip we took to Copenhagen. The wine glass was for a fruit smoothie that I made to go with it... We do not drink wine for breakfast - I promise.'  Lotte Jeffs, Deputy Editor

'During the week, I'll just have basic cereal (Kellogg's Cornflakes or Weetabix) , but every Saturday me and my friends have a late breakfast together #brunchclub. If I'm cooking it will be something involving eggs my current favourite to make is Spanish baked eggs with greek feta, coriander and sourdough bread. If we're going out I'll grab a fruit smoothie, and crumpets, with a slab of fresh honey, goats cheese and rosemary (from M1lk in Balham). It is delicious! Lisa Rahman, Art Editor

'Toast with Vegemite, often I have to settle for Marmite but if I can find Vegemite it's always that.' Natalie Lukaitis, Contributing Beauty Correspondent

'I'm totally hooked on eggs. In all variations - soft boiled with anchovy soilders, scrambled on rye with sliced tomato, a feta and spinach omelette makes any day better, and eggs baked in a tomato and cannelloni beans for a weekend brunch. So many ways, so few days. And when I'm out of eggs,  it's all about beans on toast. ' Lena de Casparis, Culture Director

'In my pre-ELLE days this was either an avocado smoothie or a little smoked salmon and avocado on gluten-free toast. But thanks to Mozzino, my weekday breakfasts are all gluten, all the way with butter and marmalade thrown in. This must stop.' Kenya Hunt, Acting Content Director

'When I have time I love avocado on toast with tomatoes and a boiled egg. As a real treat when I go home and visit my boyfriends parents we have a pancake breakfast – which is becoming quite a tradition.' Catherine Pykett, Freelance Picture Editor

'On my Instagram there is a picture of some blueberry banana pancakes – tasty, yet gluten free and topped with fresh berries, greek yoghurt and honey. Get. In. My. Belly.' Fern Ross, Chief Sub-Editor

'I don’t normally eat breakfast as I’m too lazy and don’t have the stomach for food before 11. This was my breakfast on Sunday, though. I always have room for sugar.' Holly Rains, Acting Content Director
