6 Reasons Flip Phones Are Set For A Comeback

Another 90s trend returns

Adele’s new single, ‘Hello’ blew up the Internet this morning, but she’s not the only one set for a comeback. The humble flip phone could soon be returning to our lives thanks to its starring role in her single video.

In her first video for the album 25, Adele is shown struggling to get a signal on her vintage flip phone. Fan reactions ranged from decade confusion, to confessions of having loved flip phones all along.

However, this may not even have been a nod to the past. This week Samsung announced the launch of a new flip phone, the Galaxy Golden 3. How soon will it be before we trade in our smart phones for something chunkier? We're guessing not that long at all.

1 |  You can answer your calls with a little flick and feel like an absolute boss.

2 |  They have undeniable retro appeal, as demonstrated by Rihanna in this 90s tracksuit look.

3 |  While iPhones remain identical despite your choice of covers, the flip phone can be heavily personalised. In Mean Girls, on Wednesdays they wore pink, and so did their phones.

4 |  Or go a step further, and bedazzle your flip phone. Carrie was always on the cutting-edge of fashion.

5 |  While you’re at it, why not get one with a pull out antenna à la Cher from Clueless?

6 |  Hillary Clinton still uses a flip phone. That’s good enough for us.

7 |  And, best of all, the satisfying snap when you hang up on someone. A literal snap.
