Any Uber user will know that you're given the chance to rate your driver after each journey. What you might not know, however, is that your driver is also rating you.

That's right - every time you grumble about their driving, bemoan the route they're taking or audibly add to the unfriendly odour of their minicab, you're losing precious points off your Uber rating.

While ol' Brucie has taught us that points make prizes, here a low score means you're less likely to be picked up by future Uber requests - sorry, but you shouldn't have dropped pizza in that guy's car.

If you're a little worried about your Uber rating, there's an easy way to check out what sort of trouble you're facing. With scores measured out of a possible 5, you...

  1. Open your smartphone-locked Uber app
  2. Click the three-bar drop-down menu icon in the upper left corner
  3. Click 'Help'
  4. Click 'Account'
  5. Select the "I'd like to know my rating" option
  6. Click 'Submit', cross your fingers, and hope for the best

According to Uber, "the rating system works to make sure that the most respectful riders and drivers are using Uber".

Just like drivers don't know what rating you've given them, if your score's a little lower than expected you're unable to find out which offensive taxi-based outburst caused your rating to tumble.
