The after-party is over

We had our (spectacular) ELLE Christmas party yesterday. There was everything you would expect - a photobooth, flash mobbing to Bieber's Sorry (yes, really) and a band that was so good we can't even explain, but, before that even happened we had a PRE-party in the ELLE office. Why? Because these days it's not so much about the party, or even the after-party. These days, according to a London poll, 79% of adults agreed that they prefer the getting ready to the party itself.

Since we love a party at ELLE we put the theory to the test. At 16.00 sharp a DJ set up by the ELLE fashion cupboard and our pre-party began. There were V05 hairstations, a prosecco bar (we don't do things by halves) and a makeup table where we could sit together and enjoy that part too, rather than getting ready in the ladies loos as usual. This makes sense, since Mintel reports that 92% of women say it takes twice as long to get ready when their friends are around, purely because that part is half the fun.

Furthermore, Prosecco is the number one pre-party drink of choice (hence the ELLE bar), pre-party streaming playlists are on the rise (hence the DJ), and 86% of beauty vloggers posted on party styling last year to meet demand for beauty home help. With the average woman spending three days planning outfits and two days planning make up for festive celebrations, we are officially embracing the pre-party.

But the party and the after party were pretty amazing too. Do you pre-party? Let us know @ELLEUK #WePreParty
