She’s been hailed as a new feminist film hero, wholly embraced by Star Wars fans, and yet Rey, a central character if not THE star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is nowhere to be seen in the new  monopoly game much to the outrage of fans.

Following the incredible success of the film, the popular game underwent a transformation to cater to eager fans.

Whilst the Hasbro game features token male characters such as Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader (who doesn’t even appear in the film) our leading hero Rey is depressingly absent.

Using the trending hashtag #WheresRey, fans have been Tweeting their disbelief at the exclusion of the film’s female lead with one Twitter user stating ‘Representation matters’.

However, Hasbro are not the first company to omit Rey from their merchandise. Target have also been criticized for selling a Star Wars figurine pack featuring six featured characters, none of them being Rey.

The latest installment reached the £1 billion mark this weekend, proving its staggering popularity, despite this the force still hasn't awakened some people, it seems.
