The Academy Posts Official Statement Addressing #OscarsSoWhite Controversy

‘This is a difficult but important conversation’

After Spike Lee announced that he will not be attending the 2016 Academy Awards, and a number of other industry heavyweights expressed their frustration, anger and sadness at the lack of diversity in the Oscars 2016 nominations.

Academy President Cheryl Boone has spoken out on Twitter, the same social space where the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite has been trending.
