In an upcoming interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Coldplay singer and Beyoncé hype man Chris Martin has opened up about his split with Gwyneth Paltrow and the time Bey told him his song was rubbish. Here's what you need to know:

Divorce is great

'I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It's a divorce – but it's a weird one.' Nor does he see divorce as a negative development. 'I don't think about that word very often. I don't see it that way. I see it as more like you meet someone, you have some time together and things just move through.'

Beyonce told him to get his act together

Martin wrote a song called 'Hook Up' for Beyoncé, and played it to her in the studio. She turned it down, 'in the sweetest possible way. She told me, "I really like you – but this is awful."'

He's down with the (well, his) kids

Apple and Moses introduced him to Silentó's 'Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)'. 'I'm not sure if I can whip, but I can nae nae with the best of them.'

He has Rocky #goals

'Rocky IV has the most awesome training sequence of all time. I think it triggers the young boy in me who saw it and was like, "Wow – if you wanna do something, just fucking lift logs!"' So that's exercise - what about diet? 'If Rocky eats it, I do, too.'

He's heard the Coldplay jokes

'I had a couple of years in the mid-2000s where it was really confusing to me. I was like, "Why is our band sometimes a punch line?"'

Aw, Chris. The jokes come from a place of love. Also from the a place of your dancing being funny.
