Kim Kardashian West has taken to her Twitter account to correct claims she felt had been made by the Daily Mail, insinuating that she’s been in ‘self imposed diet exile’ since the birth of her second child, Saint West in December.

The site posted photos of Kim out and about in New York City ahead of husband Kanye’s third fashion week show for his Yeezy clothing line. Whilst documenting this outing – her first since ‘emerging from maternity leave’ - the site went on to imply that Kim’s been in  ‘diet exile’ to lose weight gained during pregnancy.

Not cool.

In Kim's own words, she's been resisting any urge to dash between her usual scheduled appearances or photoshoots and has been lying relatively low, but as she rightly points out, isn't it her prerogative, as a new mum, to spend her maternity leave in whichever manner she feels appropriate?

But it seems Kim doesn’t need us, or anyone, to jump in and defend her because she’s already done it herself. Calling out the DM's claims to her 40.2 million Twitter followers, which resulted in the headline being swiftly amended…

Sadly, it seems, that speculation about a woman's figure is still a first port of call, regardless of celeb status, recent achievements or, indeed, the instance of recent motherhood.

Perhaps soon, we'll collectively agree that bonding with a newborn and the parents' psychological health is probably more important in the first stages of motherhood than anything else.
