There are rules we’re advised to follow on a daily basis to help with our general safety, wellness and whatnot, which most of us are happy comply with. Then there are the rules set out by some famous people and institutions that are so ridiculous - some wonderfully so and some insultingly so – that they warrant flagging up. From, ‘if you want to move, you can shift your weight’ to ‘no flat shoes’ and ‘thong type costumes are problematic’, here are some of the most outrageous requests.

Backstage at Yeezy:

Kanye set out a strict set of rules for the models taking part in his third Yeezy collection at New York Fashion Week. Our personal favourites include:

'Loosen up no stiffness/do not be casual.’ Oxymoronic, no?

‘Do not take off your clothes or shoes.’ Should have you been inclined to do so.

The 2013 Grammy Awards:

A letter from CBS to Grammy organisers detailed the very strict clothing restrictions, which all seem to be targeted at female performers. Perhaps the most confusing/ ludicrous of all being:

‘Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure’. RID-IC-U-LOUS, and most probably (definitely) written by a man.

Marc Jacobs Party:

Ahead of Marc Jacobs’ Fashion Week Party in September 2015, the designer sent out an invitation that begun ‘STRICT DRESS TO KILL CODE WILL BE ENFORCED.’ And what a dress code it was. The list included:

‘PLATINUM RECOARDS AS HEAD GEAR’ and ‘RIDING IN ON A WHITE HORSE’. Ah-mazing.

Wimbledon:

Before you even step foot in the 41-court venue at Wimbledon they advise you read the 25-page guide dedicated to queuing. Because queuing can be confusing business. It includes:

‘Wear appropriate footwear (flip flops and high heels are not recommended).’ Well that’s our outfit idea ruined.

‘Pizza orders must be arranges for delivered at the Wimbledon Park Road gate only.’ Hurrah! We can order Domino’s.
