Just when we thought we had managed to turn the volume down on the dulcet tones of ex-One Directioner Zayn Malik, he's hit us with a new song.

'Pillowtalk', Zayn's first solo release since splitting from the band, has been circulating in our heads ever since he debuted it at the end of January.

Having hit the number one slot in surplus of 60 countries, the sexy, sultry audio-romp that is 'Pillowtalk' has been on a lot of people's playlists.

This new song - 'It's You' - which Zayn performed yesterday on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight show, is a totally different kettle of fish.

Slow, syncopated beats and some crooning, melancholic lyrics about some mysterious girl or other - this is clearly the slow jam for the new album.

What's interesting us most at the moment is Zayn's performance itself.

The stage mostly shrouded in darkness, Zayn stood bathed in a single light from above, giving the overall impression that he might have been in some sort of church.

This was only added to by the instance of a slow wheezing sound in the track that could have come from an organ.

Watch out Yeezus, seems like Zayn might be positioning himself as the next messiah!
