During Hillary Clinton's speech on Tuesday - following a successful clean-up at the primaries - the news anchor Joe Scarborough tweeted the following words and women everywhere had something to say.

Sadly, the smile command follows a specific gender dynamic. Men don't tend to tell other men to smile, women don't tend to tell other women and women certainly don't walk down the street instructing male passers-bys to smile because, you know what, it might never happen.
The trope is indicative of a prevelant gendered condescension, not to mention the fact that these men seem to feel that women owe their unasked-for opinion consideration. Well, we don't, and we want to be able to say that with confidence. These women nailed their comebacks...
