This season of Girls might be the best yet. From Marnie's wedding make-up to Hannah's dance scene at the retreat, we've been giggling away at every episode.

And apparently we're not the only ones - One Direction's Niall Horan recently tweeted his approval:

The show's star and creator, Lena Dunham, took to instagram to post her own response, screenshotting the tweet and posting it with the caption:

"But if you like having panic attacks up in hotel rooms

And if you like a lot of complex fear stuff around men and sex

If you like to do the things you're too ashamed to admit to anyone but your therapist

Then baby, I'm perfect"

Dunham is parodying the lyrics from One Direction's song 'Perfect', a song that reflects the boys' own celebrity status.

The original lyrics read: "But if you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms / And if you like having secret little rendezvous / If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn't do / Then baby, I'm perfect"

Girls is notorious for its commitment to portraying realistic, unsanitised and, to be honest, often very unsexy sex. It's a world away from the clean-cut, suggestions of 1D, who deal almost exclusively in euphemisms and clichés.

By making fun of her own total inability to measure up to the boys' standard of perfection, Lena helpfully reminds us that their songs, while catchy, generally promote untenable ideals. Important to remember when staring into Harry's eyes in the above vid.
