Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed in an interview the true extent of her friendship with Emma Stone. She told Harper's Bazaar that she tends to vomit if she stays out late partying. Apparently one time, Emma stepped up.
"It was the night we saw Adele in L.A. She just started rubbing my back. She was really sweet. I was like, 'Get out of here. It's so gross.' "
But Emma didn't get out of there! She hung around like a true BFF, whispering what we can only assume were things like 'drink some water, Jen', and 'I love The Hunger Games.' We spy a genuine friend here, one who'll do more than just sling an arm round you on the red carpet but will actually have your back and, when the occasion calls for it, rub it for you.
With Jen & Em blazing this inspirational trail, we tracked down the seven best times celebrities showed their friendships to be *real*...
1. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid
This pair's friendship is plastered all over the internet, but for us its true strength was revealed when Gigi insisted, on camera, that she and Kendall were related.
'Ex-stepsisters' seems to be the conclusion - isn't that lovely? Plenty of BFs over the years have pretended to be related but this pair actually traced four degrees of separation to forge a familial tie, before committing it to film. Top marks. Best friends. Possibly sisters.
2. Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart
The pair worked together on Twilight and The Runaways, and have talked before about how when they hang out, they don't talk about 'movie stuff', they just hang out like a coupla regular gals. The best moment, though, was when Dakota had Kristen's back post Kristen-cheating-on-Rob gate:
"I just think that media frenzies like that...Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicize the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all that," Fanning told InStyle UK at the time. "It's like, 'Why do you think you are the authority to judge people's experiences?'"
3. Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox
The ultimate on-screen/off-screen friendship. We watched these two in Friends and then we watched life mirror art, only sometimes worrying for Lisa. The defining moment only arrived recently, though, when Jennifer made Courteney a bridesmaid in her wedding to Justin last October, a full eleven years after the show ended. True love.
4. Katy Perry and Rihanna
Last year Katy felt Rihanna was being snubbed by MTV for her lack of nomination for an MTV Video Music Award for BBHMM. This, according to Katy, was Not On, and she took to Twitter to tell everyone so:
Some might question whether Katy should have got involved at all. Not us. We know best friends and we know that Katy was just looking after Rihanna in the way a best friend should.
5. Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore
Recently Cameron proved she is just as close to Drew as she was in the Charlie's Angels days, revealing she supported Drew through her recent divorce. It's clear Drew feels the same, tweeting out her praise for Cam's recent book launch. N'awww.
6. Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslet
These two met in 2007, and we knew they were the real deal when Reese had this to say about their relationship:
"Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighbourhood, rang my doorbell, and said, 'Dahling, Sam [Mendes] is off shooting and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a playdate, and, oh, by the way, it's almost 9 o'clock and I've had nothing to drink - do you have any wine?'"
7. Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss
Leader of the notorious squad, Taylor appears to be best friends with the entire A list. It's her friendship with supermodel Klossie, however, which strikes us as particularly strong, possibly because they look so alike. We knew they were made to last when they Instagrammed themselves drawing each other's names in the sand. They're the closest living embodiment we have of the girlfriend twins emoji.
