BREAKING: Prince's publicist has now confirmed - 'Pop music superstar Prince has died at his home in suburban Minneapolis.'
After an investigation at Prince's Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassenn, it has been reported by TMZ and a number of other sources that the fatality being looked into is that of the singer himself.
A representative at the Carver County, Minnesota sheriff's office was contacted by The Fader and confirmed that the office is still doing a death investigation and in the process of contacting the next of kin.
A few days ago, Prince's personal aeroplane had to make an emergency landing, with the 57-year-old singer receiving medical attention for what was widely reported as a severe bout of flu.
Prince Rogers Nelson, at one time The Artist Formerly Known As, is not merely an incredible musician, whose hits such as 'Little Red Corvette' and 'When Doves Cry' have entertained the world for decades, he was also an inimitable style icon and, for any fans of Dave Chapelle's comedy sketch show, a source of fascinating and brilliantly bizarre stories.
He will be sorely missed.
