In weird news of the day from Cannes - Lady Gaga will play Cilla Black in a new biopic film based on the life of singer Dionne Warwick.

The film will be based on the story of Warwick's book set in 1960s 'My Life, As I See It: An Autobiography', with Destiny's Child singer LeToya Luckett playing the singer and actor Danny Glover as Dionne's father.

Titled 'Dionne' the film will centre on Dionne's rivalry with Cilla, who topped UK charts with 'Anyone Who Had a Heart', a song originally written for Dionne.

At a press conference today Dionne said of Cilla; 'She stole my music, and I was not a very happy camper about that... Over the years, we grew up and understood each other. It all got cleared away.'

And when asked why Gaga was cast as Cilla she responded; 'Why not? It was just an easy choice and she wanted to do it.'

We can't wait to hear Gaga's scouse accent.
