Your Best Year Ever continues into 2016! This month, Angela Duckworth, psychologist and best-selling author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, will help you learn ways to increase and take advantage of your own grit.
I study grit, a quality that characterizes superachievers in every field I've studied. What is grit? Grit is working tremendously hard, and with steadfast loyalty, for something you care about. It's not only perseverance in the face of adversity, it's passion for what you're pursuing.
I study grit because I think it's accessible to all of us. Psychological scientists like me have been studying achievement for decades, and we know something about its origins. These insights provide something of a road map to cultivating our own passion and perseverance, not only so we can achieve success personally, but also so we can contribute to the well-being of others.
Here are the first three questions on my Grit Scale—go here to take the longer test and get your scores, and come back next week to learn more about incorporating grit into your own life!
