A low-calorie prosecco has officially hit the UK market.

Thompson & Scott has launched Skinny: A low calorie, low-sugar version of prosecco, and retailers like Selfridges are stocking the stuff for £17.99 per bottle.

Thomson & Scott CEO Amanda Scott created the drink as a response to her sugar-free upbringing. 'I fell in love with champagne and was compelled to create a Skinny Wines portfolio for those who want to drink something beautifully crafted but with the benefit of no/low added sugar,' says Scott of her Skinny venture.

Skinny prosecco is the first prosecco to include a calorie count on the label, in hopes that others will follow suit.

But is this all really necessary? Prosecco contains around 80 calories per 100ml glass, while Skinny prosecco is 67 calories. So for about ten calories less, is there really a point?

We've said it before and we'll say it again. Just everything in moderation, right?
