In the final weeks of the US presidential election campaign, Hillary Clinton has revealed her coping strategy when it comes to dealing with Donald Trump and the recent allegations that have been made against him.

Speaking at a fundraiser in San Francisco on Thursday, Clinton responded to the growing list of women who have come forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault.

'The whole world has heard Trump brag about how he mistreats women, and the disturbing stories just keep coming,' Clinton said, before she addressed voters who are feeling disillusioned by the election.

'There's hardly any part of America he has not targeted,' she continued. 'It makes you want to turn off the news. It makes you want to unplug the internet or just look at cat GIFs.'

As well as summing up the dejected mood at this stage of the campaign, Clinton admitted that even she has been soothed by watching cats do strange things.

'Believe me, I get it,' she added. 'In the last few weeks, I've watched a lot of cats do a lot of weird and interesting things. But we have a job to do. And it'll be good for people and for cats.'

Words of wisdom from the Democratic nominee. So, is Hillary a fan of Maru, too?
