At their event this week, Microsoft unveiled the latest edition to the Surface line: a foldable desktop computer. It's aimed at artists and designers, and is being touted as 'what the iMac should be'.

It's an ultra thin 28-inch touchscreen that can work like a regular desktop or be folded down and used as a touch screen. You can even draw on it like a massive digital canvas. Oh and their mouse is a weird, but very sleek looking small cylinder called a Surface Dial.

Anyway, the real news is that this release has people saying that 'Microsoft is now a braver, more innovative company than Apple'.

The day after Microsofts announcement. Apple shared their latest vision: The MacBook Pro. Apple are keeping our hands firmly on the keyboard though and for once it seems even their Touch Bar didn't steal the show.

There remains one big issue though, the lack of iMessaging.

I've heard friends' talk of the disappointment when a Tinder chat moves onto messaging and that first text they send from their iPhone creates a green bubble instead of a blue one. Perhaps we're reaching the moment when it won't feel like Apple has such a monopoly on cool. Maybe now my friend will be OK with that little green bubble.
