As if we needed further proof that Justin Trudeau is the heartthrob of global politics, a video showing the Canadian PM squeezing a puppet unicorn the same swimming pool colour of his eyes has just cinched that status.

During the ensuing minute and thirty one seconds of pure unadulterated joy, Trudeau meets Gary the Unicorn, a character on CBC Kids but essentially a man called Gary who has a fuzzy unicorn attached to his hand.

GENIUS idea, if it means we can spend all day going around and hugging otherwise unattainable celebrity crushes under the guise of children's entertainment.

Trudeau tells the unicorn, 'I'm going to do what I want to do all the time when I meet people, [which] is give them the biggest, squeeziest hug that I can'.

And then he literally does just that, lunging forward to hug this puppet whilst giving the most adorable smile we've ever seen, capable of melting the iciest of hearts.

'I'm never going to wash my sweater again' Gary replies only naturally. Neither would we, to be fair.

Here Gary is also hugging Margaret Atwood, the author of the popular dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale.

If that isn't enough Trudeau for one day, re-watch this video of him unashamedly parring off one Donald Trump.

Don't say we don't ever do anything for you.
