On Tuesdays, we do casual sexism in the Oval Office, apparently.

Donald Trump was just caught on camera flirting with a female reporter in the middle of a diplomatic phone call with Irish Fine Gael politician Leo Varadkar.

The US president and Irish premier had been discussing immigration and the UK's impending exit from the European Union, before Trump broke it off to beckon over RTE Washington correspondent Caitriona Perry to point out that 'she has a nice smile.'

"We have a lot of your Irish press here," Trump was saying during the call, before asking Perry where she was from, and motioning her over with his two fingers.

"Come over here, where are you from? We have all this beautiful Irish press," he continued.

"She has a nice smile on her face, so I bet she treats you well."

Perry shared a clip of their unsettling exchange on Twitter, adding the caption: "Video of the bizarre moment when President called me over during his call with Taoiseach Varadkar. "

Some social media users went on to describe the encounter as "sexist", while others branded Trump a "creep".

One fan commented on Perry's Instagram page: "That's kind of creepy. Do you think that he was being sexist in any way? I mean did it feel like he was judging you based on your looks?"

Another said they felt "violated" on the journalist's behalf, while one added: "We apologise that our president is a weird, inappropriate creep."

Ugh.
