Jake Gyllenhaal has made it very clear in previous interviews that he doesn't want to talk about that time he and Taylor Swift lovingly picked apples in an orchard during their short-lived romance.

When the actor was previously asked asked by The Guardian whether he thought dating Swift was 'playing with fire', he uncomfortably responded: 'I think when you're in a relationship, you are constantly scrutinised, your friends are scrutinised, but...'

When the Guardian reporter continued with his questioning, it's claimed Gyllenhaal had a stare off with him, before finally replying: 'I would love to not talk about my personal life.'

But the actor has finally responded to a question about the singer after being playfully quizzed by Jeff Bauman - a survivor of the Boston marathon bombing who Gyllenhaal plays in upcoming drama Stronger.

'If you lost your legs in real life, do you think Taylor Swift would write a song about it?' Bauman cheekily probed during their interview to promote the movie.

'For me, or about it?' the 36-year-old Nocturnal Animal star replied.

When Bauman clarified: 'For you - like a country song', Gyllenhaal joked: 'She sort of moved into pop now.'

And that was that.

Swift and Gyllenhaal dated for a few months back in 2010, with Swift reportedly writing All Too Well about their ill-fated relationship in 2012.

Gyllenhaal's new biopic Stronger sees the star playing Bauman following his long-term recovery after losing both his legs when two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.
