Miley Cyrus Dropped A Surprise Album During the VMAs
ELLE's October cover star Miley Cyrus just won the internet.
The singer chose the closing of the MTV VMAs ceremony to announce that she was surprise-releasing a new album, Miley Cyrus And Her Dead Petz. And the best news? It's FREE! Have a listen here.
Miley exclusively revealed her plans to ELLE UK when we interviewed her for our October cover (out Sept 3), saying, 'If you want it, you download it, and if you don’t like it, you can trash it. It takes a lot of stress and competition off it [...]. It might get to number one, but I didn’t want to think [that] if it’s not, then I failed.’
She also revealed that she recorded the album in her backyard studio, with the help of Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips. Miley wrote the album on her Bangerz tour, revealing that she felt lonely on the road, especially after one of her dogs died - hence the name Miley Cyrus And Her Dead Petz.
