Here, we give you a rundown of which celebrities have gained the most followers in 2015 - between sisterly rivalries, the good, the bad and the utterly unsurprising, a few Instagram underdogs have had a truly spectacular year.

Taylor Swift has won in the Instagram popularity stakes (as well as all the others). Her army of followers is now 56.9m strong, increasing by 73% in 2015.

Although Nicki Minaj doesn't have the most followers on this list, she's ranked third in terms of increasing her numbers. A 72% increase in 2015 leaves her a cool 39.8m.

Ariana Grande exploded this year, as did her social media following. A 65% rise in Instagram followers brings her up to 50.2m and counting.
