Camden Lock has pimped its Christmas shopping experience this year with a three-nighter, ‘People’s Republic of Christmas’. From the 12th - 14th December, as well as being able to browse the usual independent shops and stalls (we’ve got our eye on some mohair scarves and vintage Christmas jumpers), DJs like Norman Jay will take to the decks at the dedicated radio station and food and drink comes via hip supper club pioneers, Disappearing Dining Club (disappearingdiningclub.com). The East London collective has set up residence in the Lock House with what they’re calling ‘Too Much Is Never Enough’, serving up Christmassy cocktails (in jars for sharing) and hearty festive stews (think venison, juniper and allspice). If you need shopping advice while you’re there, just tweet #shopthelock for one-on-one advice.

Secret Emporium Winter Edition, Shoreditch

Over in Shoreditch, the guys behind Secret Garden Party and Wilderness Festival are hosting Secret Emporium Winter Edition, with a line-up of British independent designers, live music, art installations and cool eats. Housed in an incredible Victorian warehouse, the designers span womenswear to illustration, menswear to accessories and homeware to art, all from independent Brit labels. Seth Troxler’s Smokey Tails is hosting a mulled bar serving ‘naughty’ winter cocktails and food comes via The Breakfast Club, Bleecker St. Burger and French & Grace – depending what time of day you rock up.

Handmade Christmas at The O2

Then, south of the river, The O2 is hosting ‘Handmade Christmas’ with the Entertainment District of the Live Quarter as backdrop. Kicking off on the 13th, the idea is that if you’re gig-bound, why not rock up a bit earlier and shop the best of the bourgeoning craft world? As well as what you might expect – jewellery, leather goods and artisan foods - there is plenty of what you wouldn’t, like BRAKE, the brainchild of local Greenwich girl, Rachel Thomas, who designs incredible, stylised bikes. To complete the experience, pop into Beetle Juice, a mobile cocktail bar housed in an iconic 1970?s VW camper van. It doesn’t get more festival than that!

Handmade Christmas at The O2; 13-15 December, The O2 Centre, North Greenwich (Jubliee Line), £5 entry; handmadechristmas.co.uk
