Satan’s Rout Ball, The Last Tuesday Society

Debauched but elegant, the Last Tuesday Society has become synonymous with wild and wonderful parties which feature feasts, incredible costumes and a healthy dose of the bizarre (think naked models on the buffet table). Also serving as a launch for Suzie Field’s (Last Tuesday Society tribune), new book, A Curious Invitation, Satan’s Rout will be a recreation of five parties from literature: Bulgakov’s The Master And The Margarita will be referenced as London Gay Symphony Orchestra play in one room; Japanese classic The Tale Of Genji will inspire the blossom viewing room, filled with geishas, flowers and Japanese rope-bondage demonstrations; in the asylum room, influenced by One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, beware the twisted ward sisters. Let your imagination run riot when dressing for this party. Masks, gowns, wigs, lingerie, blood – anything goes, but make sure you look gorgeous.

The Coronet Theatre, 28 New Kent Road, London SE1 6TJ; Friday October 26th 9pm-5am; tickets £35 (book in advance); 08444 771000; thelasttuesdaysociety.org

Belle Epoque Halloween Special

Stalwarts of the London vintage party scene, Belle Epoque are behind the hugely popular Blitz and Prohibition nights at which the city’s retro-lovers mingle. This Halloween, the team will be creating a velvet-draped fantasy world in which corseted women drink cocktails on balconies and masked gentlemen beckon from the curtained mezzanine. As you sip an Absinthe cocktail, acrobats will perform dazzling feats above your head and the DJ will play a mix of tunes that range from jazz to classic rock ‘n’ roll. Wear something glamorous, vintage and slightly bizarre; think ballgowns, corsets, gloves, masks and lots of costume jewellery.

Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, London EC2A 3PQ; Saturday October 27th 8pm-2am; tickets £20 (book in advance); 020 7724 1617; belleepoqueparty.com

The Zombie Factory, Proud Gallery

Proud Camden, once a horse hospital in the stables market, is an evocative venue with its beamed ceiling and cobbled floors and it will be taken to new levels with floor-to-rafters Halloween decoration. The South Gallery will host a retro horror film-influenced night while burlesque and cabaret performers will add a twisted edge to their routines. Staff will be dressed in their customary attire of corsets and suspenders but half of their costume and makeup will transform them into eerie porcelain dolls. There will also be a secret photo booth, zombie factory (prepare to be splattered with gore) and electro beats. The young, hip crowd which frequents Camden’s Proud Gallery will be dressing with a nod to the un-dead so your costume should be as blood-splattered as you dare.

Proud Camden, The Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, London NW1 8AH; Thursday November 1st, Friday November 2nd, Saturday November 3rd, show/ dinner from 7pm, dancing until 2pm; entry to the club is free if you wear a costume but the burlesque and cabaret show is from £29-£49; 0207 482 3867; proudcamden.com

Phantasmagoria – White Mischief’s Halloween Ball

The former art deco cinema that is London’s Scala will be turned into a Halloween-themed playground for adults. Decorated themed rooms will yield such delights as a macabre magic lantern show, a comedy mime artist and ‘gentleman juggler’, a Vaudeville punk band, an Oompah brass outfit playing pop hits, and DJs spinning electro-swing, vintage jazz, rock’n’roll and showtunes. There will also be a storytelling room, a photo booth and styling parlour and, for the brave, a séance. Dressing up is optional but encouraged and suggested themes include scary showfolk, Madame Leota, ghouls and spectres, Gothic nightmares and Grand Guignol.

Scala, 275-277 Pentonville Road, London N1 9NL; 020 7833 2022; Saturday 27th October 9pm-4am; tickets £19.99 in advance or £35 on the door; whitemischief.info

A Journey To Hell, the Winterwell Halloween Ball

The Winterwell Festival throws an annual Halloween party in London and this year production company SDNA, which recently directed the 360° audio-visual Walking Dream installation at the Roundhouse, will transform the Loft Studios into its version of Hell. The venue, in an old brick warehouse, overlooks St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kensal Green, a place allegedly haunted by the ghost of Lord Byron, so the atmosphere is already set. Inside the party, art installations and interactive theatre will amuse, but music is the main focus and you’ll be able to dance to electro, ska, soul or hip-hop. Take Hell as the starting point for your costume – think Dante’s Inferno.

Loft Studios, 77-81, Scrubs Lane, Kensal Green, London, NW10 6QU; Saturday October 27th 9pm-5am; tickets £25 (book ahead); winterwell.co.uk/halloween
