ELLE’s Little Black Book of Ibiza

With idyllic beaches, world-renowned bars and enough eclectic, independent restaurants to shake a stick at, the Balearic island of Ibiza offers much more than just sunny days and hazy nights. So, we’ve asked some of our favourite DJs, beauty gurus, and Ibiza experts to spill the beans on their undiscovered gems in ELLE's little black book of Ibiza...

Annie Mac – DJ, Radio 1

To sleep… Es Cucons

Es Cucons is my favourite hotel, it's in a small farmhouse in a tiny area called Santa Agnes. It’s all olive groves, lemon trees, red wine and some of the nicest food I've ever had in Ibiza, served up by the family who run it. Bliss.

Address: Cami des pla de corona 110, 07828, Santa Agnes, Ibiza; enq: escucons.com

To eat… The Fish Shack

A tiny little shack on the rocks perched delicately at the sea’s edge at the very end of Talamanca beach, this is hard to find as there are no sign posts – or roof, it’s made almost entirely of sun umbrellas. There is also no menu, so expect whatever has been freshly caught, served with sautéed potatoes and vegetables. Sit on plastic chairs and watch the sun go down with a beer.

Address: This really is a hidden gem, it’s on the rocks by Talamanca beach, just past Sa Punta…

To relax… Talamanca Beach

This is my favourite beach for its amazing location near to Ibiza town – it’s only a 10-minute walk to Pacha. The beach is very traditional with a lot of character and great restaurants and bars around it.

Address: Talamanca, Ibiza, 07800

Radio 1 is in Ibiza, 3 and 4 August; listen on BBC Radio 1 and watch on bbc.co.uk/radio1

To sleep... Atzaro

If you need a little chill out time after a week of full-on partying, check in to Atzaro for a perfect night’s sleep or to get pampered at the day spa. The oriental décor and incredible pool will help even the most hard-core clubber unwind. My favourite treatment is the hot stone massage – it’s the perfect way to end a hedonistic trip.

Address: Ctra.Sant Joan, KM 15, Ibiza

To party... Space

Ok, this may seem like an obvious choice, but top tip: it’s cheaper to get in earlier in the day, so arrive before lunch, get your hand stamped, then head to the beach and return later. Also, never go before midnight, as you’ll find yourself on your own, unless of course you’re planning on going to Space on a Sunday, which starts hotting up at around 4pm. It's so much fun on the terrace while the sun is still out.

Address: Playa d’en Bossa s/n, 07817 Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, Ibiza; enq: spaceibiza.com

Dawn Hindle – Founder Ibiza Rocks (Ibizarocks.com)

To party… Blade Runner

Thrill-seekers will have a great day out on the Blade Runner jet boat; it’s high-speed, super-fast fun at sea. If you get the timing right, then you will be treated to the best sunset you’ll ever witness and watching the sun go down at sea is something truly special.

Address: San Antonio harbour

To shop... San Jordi Market

Spend your Saturday at the amazing San Jordi market. It boasts bric-a-brac-Ibiza style in the form of vintage clothing, homewares, fresh garden flowers and home-grown vegetables. Or for Sunday afternoon shopping, visit the market at Cala Lena.

Address: Hipodromo San Jordi - Carretera Aeropuerto, KM 4, 1, Ibiza

To drink: Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel

For the ultimate celeb-spotting, head to Pikes hotel to sip cocktails at the original Club Tropicana poolside bar (George Michael filmed the video here). Grace Jones, Freddie Mercury and Julio Iglesias were all regulars. These days, catch the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs, Tinie Tempah and Kasabian hanging out pre (and post) live Ibiza Rocks gigs.

Address: Cami de Sa Vorera, Sant Antoni, Ibiza, 07820

To eat: La Paloma

This is cool Ibiza campo dining and my absolute favourite food on the island. It has delicious natural and organic produce, and is set in a traditional finca and garden. Try the salads, smoothies and homemade bread and my personal recommendation: the goat's cheese and rocket focaccia.

Address: Carretera de Santa Gertrudis a Sant Llorenc, San Lorenzo, Ibiza; enq: palamoibiza.com

To eat... Restaurante S'Amettler

A very unassuming and simple restaurant with fantastic food that is matched perfectly with its Spanish wines. The service is exceptional – you can tell they have a real passion for what they do. It’s somewhat of a hidden gem as it’s off the main drag, but don't let that put you off.

Address: Calle Pere Frances, 12, Ibiza, 07800; enq: restaurantsametller.com

Erick Morillo DJ

To party... Pacha Ibiza

This has been my home in Ibiza for 13 years – I love it here. There is something for everyone from Luciano to David Guetta to Tiesto and, of course, my night Subliminal. The music is diverse, the club is iconic, and it’s great for VIPs and clubbers. This place should be a must on everyone's Ibiza schedule.

Address: Avinguda del Vuit d'Agost, Ibiza Town, 07800; enq: pacha.com

Alannah Sparks – Acting Online Fashion Editor, ELLEuk.com

To party... Amante Beach Club

This spectacular beach club is on the eastern side of the island. Carved into its own craggy little bay, the restaurant/club is owned by a former DJ who knows exactly what it takes to impress the Ibiza jet set: think white tablecloths, smokey king prawns, and killer cocktails to sip on while you take in the sun on one of the pristine day beds.

Address: Sol Den Serra, Near Cala Llonga, Calle Afueras SN 07849 Santa Eularia Des Riu, Ibiza; enq: amanteibiza.com

To drink... Sunset Ashram

One of the best places to watch the island’s famously beautiful sunsets, this laid-back hippy-chic cafe is perched atop a cliff, with spectacular views over the sea. Dream catchers lightly play on the breeze and live DJs play soft house music, adding to the blissed-out atmosphere.

Address: Ctra, San Agusti, San Josep, Ibiza

To party... Krankbrother

Partying on a yacht is about as good as it gets in Ibiza, so it's always worth keeping an ear out for any maritime happenings. This is the boat party of the summer and is being hosted by London promoters Krankbrother on a 110ft luxury yacht – beg borrow or steal to get your place on board.

Address: Enq krankbrother.com for times and destinations

Charlotte Tilbury Make-up Artist

To ride… Ibiza Horse Valley

I take my gorgeous son Flynn horse-riding on the north of the island at the Ibiza Horse Valley. It’s paradise.

Address: Sant Joan de Labritja, 07810, Ibiza

To sleep… Can Talaias Hotel

This the most beautiful boutique hotel on the island. It’s run by the lovely Cushan and Letti Thomas who really know how to look after their guests. The views are amazing and it’s a true slice of authentic Ibiza.

Address: Apartado 244, 07850, San Carlos, Ibiza

To party… Wax da Jam at Aura

This is the place to go for a really great, small, local party in the north of the island. The Wax da Jam event is at Aura on a Tuesday night and it’s quite simply the best night you’ll have on Ibiza. It has live music, great vibes and is hosted by Nightmares on Wax.

Address: Aura Ibiza, Ctra San Juan KM 13.5, San Lorenc, Ibiza; enq: auraibiza.com

Danny Whittle Brand Director, Pacha

To eat… Mel’s Bar, Sant Eulalia

This café on the seafront is for those days when only a full proper English breakfast will do. It’s better than anywhere in England – and that’s saying something.

Address: Carretera es canar km 3,100, 07840 Santa Eulària des Riu, Ibiza

To shop… reVOLVER

This boutique store has great clothes for both men and women, stocking Comme Des Garcons, Melissa Odabash and Folk. It’s also good for unique birthday and Christmas presents. You can’t go wrong.

Address: reVOLVER Ibiza, Calle Bisbe Azara 1, 07800, Ibiza; enq: revolveribiza.com

To eat…Cicale

This is Italian food at its best. The people are awesome and it has a great atmosphere and even better food. Kids are not only welcome here, but almost mandatory – that’s Italians for you, family through and through.

Address: Carretera Eivissa Sant Joan, 0 S/N, 07810 Sant Joan de Labritja, Ibiza; enq: cicaleibiza.com

Nina Deckers – Designer; Lazul swimwear

To drink... Macao Café Beach Bar

My favourite daytime beach bar is the Macao. It’s a relaxed and unpretentious hideaway that keeps the spirit of what Ibiza is all about. The bar is breezy and open on all sides and it’s located on a pebble beach overlooking the bay with the friendliest staff. It plays jazz, reggae and 1970s soul and the revellers are often from the music industry. It does great drinks, my favourites being anything watermelon based.

Address: Avenida Espana 26, Ibiza, Baleares, Ibiza; enq: macaocafe.com

To drink... Cipriani Bar

After a relaxing day at the beach, you’ll be ready for the Cipriani Bar, which opened this summer on the rooftop of the Ibiza Gran Hotel. It’s all Balearic fun and glamour with delicious Bellinis and a vibrant atmosphere. This is the place to show off the latest trends, surrounded by beautiful people getting ready for a night out on the white isle.

Address: Ibiza Gran Hotel, Paseo Juan, Carlos I, nr.17, Ibiza, 07800; enq: cipriani.com

Luke Hersheson Hair Stylist

To eat... Cami de Balafia

This secret, family-run restaurant offers incredible home-cooked food, and its set menu of meat and salad is great value. I promise you, you will never taste better tomatoes. It’s perfect to sit out under the stars and the delicate lantern. It is in a word, amazing.

Address: Camí de Balàfia, Carretera Sant Joan, Camino Santa Eulalia, Ibiza

To eat... Es Torrent

This is a quiet bay with a gorgeously relaxing beach and great restaurant. It cooks its fish in a mound of salt – it sounds horrid, but you don’t taste the salt, it just keeps the fish super moist. Try the sea bass or sole.

Address: Playa de Port des Torrent, Sant Josep, Ibiza

To dance... Sa Trinxa

Every Tuesday and Thursday, this bar has live music by Micah (violinist) and Ruben Moran (saxophonist) who play live over Ibiza beats. The whole beach gets up and dances – it’s an amazing atmosphere with a charming, hippy, chilled-out vibe.

Address: Playa Des Cavallet, 07830 Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Ibiza

To sleep... Gecko Beach Club

A bright and airy hotel located on the island of Formentera, just a boat ride from Ibiza, which is just perfect for getting away from it all.

Address: Playa Migjorn, Ca Mari, Formentera, Islas Baleares, Ibiza

To dance... DC-10

This club night is held in a former aircraft hangar. It feels like it’s practically in the middle of the desert and is so different to everything else Ibiza has to offer. Definitely worth checking out.

Address: Carretera de las Salinas, KM1, Ibiza

To eat... Bambuddha Grove

A stunning Asian restaurant with a dramatic bamboo ceiling and impressive chandelier. This is a really cool place to eat before heading out in Ibiza town.

Address: Ctra San Juan, Km 8.5, Santa Eulalia, Ibiza; enq: bambuddha.com

James Boyd MD of Daisy Jewellery (daisyjewellery.com)

To eat... Rincon Es Codular

Wake up early (at Cas Gasi Agroturismo if you're lucky) and head to Rincon Es Codolar on Es Codolar beach – one of the longest and least busy beaches on the island – for Ibiza's best empanadas and a cafe con leche at the little dark wooden bar inside.

Address: Playa d'es Codolar Salinas, 07830, Ibiza

To eat... Es Xarcu

Hit up tropicana beach for some low-key sunbathing and good tunes, before taking a short detour to Es Xarco (one bay away) for lunch. Order the salt-baked seabass and a bottle of Provencale rosé and marvel at the way this little shack still seems like a best-kept secret.

Address: Es Xarco Cala Es Xarco, Porroig, Sant Josep, Ibiza

Heidi Van Amstel DJ, myspace.com/heidivandenamstel

To shop... Ibiza Town Port

I love the jewellery market stalls that come out on the weekend in the Ibiza Town Port. You can always find amazing deals on ?gorgeous silver pieces with beautiful stones. Alternatively, buy from the people that come up to you on the beach who have made their own pieces – that’s where you'll ?find the truly original stuff.

Address: Ibiza Town Port, 07800, Ibiza

To party... Sankeys

This new club only opened last year and was launched by the creators of the legendary Sankeys in Manchester (it was modelled on the English version). The best thing about it is its warehouse vibe. It has an amazing sound-system and lights, there are no flashy dancers or extortionate drink prices – it’s a real club for real clubbers.

Address: Carrer de las Alzines 5, Playa d’en Bossa, Ibiza; enq: sankeysibiza.com

To sunbathe... Punta Gallara

The flat rocks at Punta Gallara are so unique – a place to lie in the nude, if that’s your thing. Also try snorkelling here, it’s beautiful. If you get thirsty, buy a Coke from the leathery naked dude who has been sitting there for about 100 years.

Address: Punta Gallera, 07830, Ibiza
