Hotel on Rivington
Given its 21-storey glass-fronted exterior that towers up from the Rivington Street sidewalk, its unsurprising that Hotel on Rivington has bedrooms that offer some of the best views in New York. Not that theyre the only place you can take in the vistas from, either. You can relax in the enormous free-standing tub and check out the views, hang out on the balcony and check out the views, eat in the 21-foot high glass atrium dining room and... well, you get the picture.

Gansevoort Hotel
There have been plenty of new NYC hotels on the block since the Gansevoort threw open its doors in 2004, but it still exerts a gravitational pull on the clutch of die-hard regulars who hang out there. Not that its hard to see whats driving all its repeat business, of course - during the day you can lounge around the 45-foot heated rooftop pool (complete with its own underwater sound system) and take in the 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline. Dont budge until the sun sinks slowly over the Hudson River and you can turn your attention to some serious partying in the glass-sided loft bar...

Soho Grand
With its West Broadway location, its safe to say that the Soho Grand is perfectly placed for some pretty incredible Manhattan views. To soak them up from the best vantage point, though, you can head up to the hotel's 16th floor and kick back with a cocktail in the beautiful Grand Bar and Lounge. If tearing yourself away from the rooftop and its views seems too much to bear, then you could always check in at one of the 10 impeccably designed new corner suites and leave the blinds open to watch the sunrise over Manhattan. Spectacular.

Soho House New York
Rivalling the rooftop pool views at the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District is the equally gorgeous Soho House, New York. Built in an old warehouse, the hotel covers six floors and over 45,000 square feet of Ilse Crawford-designed loveliness. Gorgeous interiors aside (something that the Soho House group obviously do very well indeed), its the rooftop where the party's at. Open year-round, and looking out over the hipster hustle and bustle of the West Village, the skyscrapers of Midtown and the Hudson River, what a show-stopper of a view it is.

The Standard East Village
Formerly known as the Cooper Square Hotel, The Standard in the East Village is quite the attention-seeker. The sculptural 21-storey, glass architectural phenomenon towers over the Bowery, and commands views from the Empire State Building right down to the Brooklyn Bridge. The views can be taken in from most of its 145 bedrooms, making it all too easy to spend the whole time gawping out the windows, and entirely forget that theres a whole city out there to discover...
