Five of the Best Hotel Bathrooms

From achingly romantic coastal Cornish boltholes, to checking out the skyscrapers while you soak up on high, here’s our pick of five of the best hotel bathrooms...

Hotel on Rivington, New York

It’s no surprise that Hotel on Rivington is one of the world’s best hotels with views. After all, you’re high up, the rooms are clad in floor-to-ceiling glass and there’s the whole of New York City right outside your window. But the hotel cleverly incorporates its strongest asset into the bathrooms, too – cue showers-with-a-view and Japanese-style soaking tubs in the higher floor rooms. Best of the lot? Aside from the fashion shoot-only Penthouse suite, a High Floor Corner King. And as if those views weren’t utterly spoiling enough, to cap it all off you’re provided with Bisazza tiled floors, Ren toiletries and Frette bathrobes.

Borgo Santo Pietro, Tuscany

From the glittering New York skyline to the sun slowly setting on the Tuscan hills… Borgo San Pietro is not only a piece of period perfection, but also more than delivers when it comes to luxe-y facilities. And it’s got a couple of winning options on the beautiful bathrooms front, particularly: the Santo Pietro Suite and Via del Pellegrino both boast gorgeous roll-top baths, while the Valle Serena Suite goes one better and puts it next to an open fire opening out onto views of the valley.

The Peninsula, Hong Kong

Another hotel bath with a to-die-for cityscape outlook is The Peninsula in Hong Kong. While most of the rooms have some sort of view or other, the Deluxe Harbour View and Grand Deluxe Harbour View (pictured) suites and The Peninsula Suite are, understandably enough, most popular with celebrities, visiting dignitaries and well-to-do first-nighters. It’s hard to imagine a better way to start a honeymoon in Asia than sharing a dip and an ice bucket of champagne a deux while gazing out at the mesmerising vistas of the harbour and the glittering skyscrapers.

Hotel Sezz, St Tropez

This stylish St Tropez design hotel may not have views to enjoy from the bath, but it’s not short of a nice, luxe-y touch or two elsewhere to make up for it. The feel throughout is futuristic – all white-on-white minimalism and sparkling chrome courtesy of Christophe Pillet’s design – but it’s mixed with some good, old-fashioned indulgence in the bathrooms in the form of huge tubs, acres of space to spread your make-up out in, outdoor showers and private terraces and plenty of Acqua di Palma smellies.

Westcroft Guesthouse, Cornwall

There are no ultra-glamorous top-of-the-world skyscraper settings in far-flung locations at Westcroft Guesthouse – just a lovely deep, roll-top bath up in the wooden eaves of a Cornish townhouse. You just have to make sure you’ve got a bottle of bubbly to hand, slide in and either watch the stars come out or listen to the wind and rain howl in off the sea. And with winter setting in, isn’t that what a cosy weekend break is all about?
