The Oasis Clubhouse, Buenos Aires

With just a handful of rooms, Buenos Aires’ answer to Soho House, The Oasis Clubhouse, is less party hotel more hip members’ club meets clandestine speakeasy. And as the summer wanes and segues into autumn here in Europe, it’s just starting to wax over in Argentina – meaning that cocktails, weekend barbecues and DJ sets by the pool are really starting to call. There’s just one problem: it’s a private party pad, so if your name’s not down, you’re definitely not coming in…

Room Mate Oscar, Madrid

Slightly more accessible is Madrid boutique hotel, Room Mate Oscar. In the heart of Chueca, the city’s gay district and party central, it certainly has location on its side. Unlike its equally cool Chueca neighbour Hotel Abalu, though, it’s also got a cool rooftop bar (and pool in season), a buzzy restaurant and a lounge bar open till late going for it. Price-wise, it’s bang-on the money for a weekend of partying in the Spanish capital, too (with a night’s stay in October starting around the £100 mark), and as a final, thoughtful gesture, breakfast runs until noon, so you can nurse tender heads the next morning and relive the night before over a coffee and a croissant.

Ace Hotel, New York

New York is hardly short of a bouncing party hotel or two – there’s the Gansevoort, Hotel on Rivington, Room Mate Grace and The Jane, not to mention Soho House. The NYC installation of the Ace Hotel empire is utter hipster heaven, though, with a steam-punk chic look, a couple of cool eateries, one of the best lattes in the city at Stumptown Coffee, and a Lobby Bar that slowly rouses itself from sofa-reclining languor into full party mode as the evening lengthens.

3.14, Cannes

3.14 is a favourite of the Paris cool set, with nightlife lynchpins Olivier Zahm and Andre Saraiva (together with their ‘Le Clique’ entourage) being regulars at this Cannes party hotspot. Come the summer months and Film Festival time, there’s a very scene-y rooftop pool, and a beach club that’s attracted the likes of Mariah Carey, Ryan Philippe and Paris Hilton.

On a practical note, the Cote d’Azur sun should still be shining in October, and the boutiques of Rue d’Antibes are right on the doorstep for (slightly hung-over) afternoons of shopping. And the best thing of all? It doesn’t cost a complete arm and a leg to slip off there for a party-filled autumn weekend away, with prices starting from around £160 per night.

Ushuaia Beach Hotel, Ibiza

It’s been a wild first season for the newest and coolest new place to stay in Ibiza – and while it’s not the place to come for a good night’s sleep (as you’d expect from somewhere that morphed from a beach bar round the corner from Space), the summer saw loads of big-name residencies and one-off sets keeping everyone dancing until dawn. The closing parties may be over for another year, but you couldn’t have a list of list of party hotels without including somewhere from Ibiza in there somewhere, could you? Plus, there’s always next year…
