Five of the Best Ways to the Ultimate Ibiza Party

The Ibiza party scene is no longer all about hitting the strip and then partying till dawn at the super-clubs – the island has grown up and got a day job...

The Daytime Ibiza Party

Strict legislation on the island has previously placed restrictions on parties in daylight hours, but this summer the demand for dancing in the blazing sunshine has been satisfied by a cluster of options. Go for Miami-glam poolside partying in the ultra-slick Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, which has a poolside capacity of 5,000, or plump for thumping beats and an underground feel at DC10 (Carretera de las Salinas KM1; Sant Josep), the island’s infamous daytime rave-athon. Easily the wildest of the lot is the Zoo Project, a fancy-dress filled extravaganza where you can dance around a "seal-pit" to some of the best music on the island.

Villa Parties in Ibiza

The ingredients for an Ibiza villa party are simple: all you need is a good group of friends and a pool with space to dance. Everything else can be provided by the island. Rent a sound system from Digital Ibiza – they’ll come and set it up for you any time of the day or night. Book a DJ from Bubblefunk.co.uk if you don’t have a friend who’s handy on the decks, and hire your very own cocktail barman to really kick things off. Book your brunch to be delivered next day by Ibizadelivers.com. It helps, of course, to have a fabulous villa. Sleeping 16, carved into a cliff and with ample poolside dancing space, the Villa Cybaura is a pretty slick option.

Ibiza Boat Parties

What could be better than dancing on the trampoline of a catamaran to fresh house sounds while the sea rushes under your feet and the sun blazes overhead? Add in a pitcher of sangria and it’s pretty hard to beat. There are a few commercial Ibiza boat parties happening on a regular basis, but the key is to keep an eye out for the smaller promoters. Krankbrother are throwing one on a 120ft yacht on the 7th July, and Noah’s Ark (run by the guys behind Zoo Project) also do a great one. Check Resident Advisor for information in advance. Failing that, you can go the way of the villa party and host your own. BoatBookings has something for (almost) every budget.

After Dinner Dancing

Sometimes you don’t want to commit to "going out" – you just want to kick back, enjoy a good meal with friends, and relax. And then who knows, the mood might just take you. Head to Aura (Ctra San Juan KM 13.5; San Lorenc) and it’s highly likely: with a killer cocktail list to accompany the slow roast lamb or the squid and chorizo salads, the outdoor restaurant creates the perfect ambience for a chilled party crowd - especially when the DJ gets going. The ultra-stylish KM5 (Carretera Eivissa-sant Josep, KM 5.6; Sant Josep) is another great spot to enjoy a seamless dinner to dancing transition.

Three Days Off – Four Days on

Body-conscious Ibiza-dwellers make sure they look their best before they hit those white sands, and this summer an increasing number of people are choosing to combine their three days of hedonism with a healthy detox retreat. Try a cleansing yoga retreat with Just Stop, or if that sounds just a little too much like hard work, to get away from it all and indulge in some pamper time, gorgeous luxury rural retreat Hacienda Na Ximena has a seriously sybaritic spa, La Posidonia, which offers Thalassotherapy saltwater spas. Either way, after three days of hard-core sunbathing and vegetable juices by the sea, you’ll be more ready than ever for that cut-out one-piece. Of course, you can always do it the other way around and cleanse the inside of your body after three days of partying. But on the White Isle, nobody sees the inside, do they?
