The ELLE Ibiza Update #1

All that's hot and happening on our favourite party island

Es Cucons

Arguably Ibiza's most stylish bolt hole, happening upon Es Cucons is like stumbling into a hidden midnight garden. Tucked discreetly into the almond-scented Santa Agnés valley, the hotel's terraced lawns surround a deep, shimmering swimming pool, hewn from the rock by the finca's original owners. Cool tones of viridian and Yves Klein blue decorate the effortlessly chic pool bar while an airy new in/out dining area - all reclaimed chairs and dangling Edison bulbs - adds a touch of urban verve to the hopelessly pretty surroundings. Inside, cool whitewashed bedrooms scatter outwards from the vast paved entrance hall, home to Ibiza's largest stone arch.

Hip little sister to Es Cavallet's beloved (and laidback) El Chiringuito, Beachouse has captured the hearts of the underground cognoscenti with its Sunday party, Rumors. The brainchild of Israeli DJ Guy Gerber, Rumors is the runaway success of the summer, attracting an easy-on-the-eye mix of holidaying industry types, off-duty models and local celebrities (James Blunt and Sofia Wellesley are fans). It may start at 4pm but a casual lunch date this is not - the dancefloor is slammed from the off, with Ibiza's hottest partygoers adopting a collective dress code of #TechChic (that's black-on-black to you and me).

2015's great tah-dah! is here, and boy was it worth the wait. The brainchild of über-chefs Ferran and Albert Adria (of elBulli fame) and Guy LaLiberte, the Canadian-born founder of Cirque du Soleil who resides on the island, HEART is a multi-sensory playground for grownups. Upstairs, an expansive open-air terrace is home to an international  street food market of luxurious proportions (think Alaskan King Crab Salad, Vietnamese nems and lobster sushi rolled to order). Downstairs, Cirque du Soleil performers do their theatrical thing in the art-adorned supper club while DJs like Sven Väth provide the tunes. A seriously scrumptious experience.

The reVOLVER boutique redefined Ibiza's shopping years ago, with its stripped back, urban aesthetic. Long the purveyors of the island's slickest eyewear, they've recently launched reVOLVER Sunglasses, an industrial gallery-like space that pays homage to their favourite accessory. Expect directional frames from Thierry Lasry alongside classics such as Oliver Goldsmith, and pretty much every collaboration that Linda Farrow Luxe has ever done, including Jeremy Scott, Dries Van Noten, 3.1 Philip Lim and The Row.

Sa Barca de Formentera

What could be more romantic than running away to sea with your loved ones? These traditional Balearic llauts - wooden fishing boats with dinky-yet-divine interiors - are impossibly easy to drive, even for beginners. Inside there's a cosy family-sized cabin and a tiny kitchen where you could easily whip up a spaghetti a lá vongole. On deck, towel covered cushions and a well-stocked cool box are all you need for dreamy sun-soaked days navigating Formentera's legendarily clear waters and powdery sandbanks. By night you can return to the twinkly, restaurant-scattered waterfront of Port La Savina or simply anchor the boat in a cove and drift to sleep on the waves. Bliss.

Sa Barca de Formentera. Boats from £150 per night (sleeps two adults and two children)
