Porrici Beach, Grenada

Backed by a steep hill, this secluded stretch of white sand, on the south west of Grenada, is hard to access except by boat or through the small boho-chic resort of LaLuna, so hotel guests will have it pretty much  to themselves

Where to stay :

LaLuna, Morne Rouge

LaLuna’s 16 little thatched villas pepper a hillside sloping steeply down towards Portici beach. Owned by Bernardo Bertucci (who gave up work for Prada in Milan, to build his tropical hideaway) and his wife, Wendy, the place is as stylish as you would expect with Balinese statues, softly lit interiors and colour-washed walls.

There's a large, shady outdoor living space full of heavy Balinese furniture just made for drowsy afternoon lounging, and a scenic pool deck backing on to the beach

Food in the simple restaurant is exquisite, with  plenty of Italian treats like seafood linguini, as well as the best of the island’s fresh fish, vegetables and herbs.

Tucked away in the trees is a peaceful little spa,  with brilliant Balinese therapists;   and they run regular  yoga courses.
