It would be hard for anyone to top the hilarious Stephen Colbert's sharp, politically-charged opening song and monologue at the 2017 Emmy Awards, but the show was actually surprisingly funny. Dolly Parton, Anna Faris and Jon Oliver all brought the funny, plus former Press Secretary Sean Spicer showed up and got a few laughs, probably at his expense, but still.
