Forget dancing in the street – summer’s here and the time is right for dancing on the roof. More specifically, on the roof of the Prince of Wales in Brixton, at the aptly named Up On The Roof parties kicking off this weekend. Laying on a host of top DJs all summer long, you can expect a wide-ranging music policy of the very finest order, starting this Friday with cut-and-paste maestro DJ Yoda. Guaranteed highs. (Because you’re up on a roof, like. Not sure what you were thinking.)

SHOPPING: Rumble in the Jumble
Imagine a jumble sale where you can rummage through Daisy Lowe’s band T-shirts, Florence Welch’s stage capes and Alexa Chung’s, well, ANYTHING. Now imagine no more, friends, for it is coming to Bethnal Green’s Oval Space this very weekend. Selling second-hand pieces straight out of the closets of a host of celebrities, Rumble In The Jumble also promises unique pieces from Mark Ronson, Beth Ditto, Lauren Laverne and David Gandy. Not that they’re in need of the pennies, mind – proceeds go directly to Oxfam. Which means you can feel even better when you’re kicking back in Friendly Fires’ Aquascutum ‘disco slippers’. That’s an actual item, by the way.

FILM: Rooftop Film Club
Here at SFTW, we do like to take a theme and run with it. So, when we’re not busy dancing on the top of a building, we’ll be sprawled out watching films on one. And thanks to this al-fresco cinema pop-up, we’ve got a fair few buildings to choose from: in Peckham, Hoxton, Stratford and Kensington. There, you’ll find comfy deckchairs with blankets, delicious food, ice-cold cocktails, wireless headphones – basically, all you need to kick back and enjoy cult classics like Withnail And I, Dirty Dancing and Bridesmaids in the open air. It's official: ceilings are over.

FOOD: Taberna do Mercado
Bet we can make you want to try this new Portuguese restaurant by the end of this sentence: it’s run by Nuno Mendes, head chef at The Chiltern Firehouse. See, told you. Not much is known as yet about his new east London venture, but we can tell you three things: 1. It’s at Spitalfields Market 2. From 11 May, it’s walk-in only, so expect l-o-n-g queues, and 3. It’ll be worth it. That much, we’re willing to bet on, too.

COMEDY: Abandoman: Hot Desk
Ireland's finest improv comedy hip-hop team (and we're sure there are many) returns to Udderbelly after gaining rave reviews last time around. Coming up with hilarious raps and party tunes on the spot, covering subjects of the audience's choosing, the raucous show has been described as 'Flight of the Conchords meets 8 Mile'. Which is, quite frankly, a combo we’ve been waiting for.
From £16.50; until 10 May
Udderbelly Festival, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road Coach Park, London SE1 8XX
