Six reasons why staying in is not an option
FOOD: Street Food & Craft Beer Festival
So we’ve had street food on rooftops, street food in warehouses and street food in pop-up forests. You might struggle to remember when you last ate street food in a street. But let’s not get pedantic, folks, because this weekend we’re going one better, and eating street food at a PALACE. Alexandra Palace to be precise, which is playing host to a host of street food big dawgs including Smokestak, Claw, The Backstreet Diner and Mark Hix’s Fishdog. Oh and there’s craft beer too – because obviously there is – and a mighty fine view over London. Streets are overrated, anyway.
22 August; free. Alexandra Palace Way, London N22 7AY alexandrapalace.com
NIGHTLIFE: XOYO’s Third Birthday
Shoreditch clubbing institution XOYO is turning three this weekend and their logic goes: why have one birthday party when you can have five? We’re not arguing. Especially when those parties feature dubstep originator Skream, house/disco collective Hercules & Love Affair and veteran tech hero Andrew Weatherall – all guaranteed to get you throwing shapes into the wee small hours. We think we’ll take the same approach to our birthdays from now on – Messrs Weatherall and Skream, you can expect our call.
19-23 August; £13.50. XOYO, 32-37 Cowper Street, London EC2A 4AP
