This week we’re eating for a great cause, drinking under railway arches and playing golf underground. We suggest you do likewise.More
POP-UP: Birdies Crazy Golf
Crazy golf. As anyone who spent their childhood holidays desperately trying to putt a neon golf ball up a volcano knows, it is surely one of our nation's finest contributions to the sporting world. Only now it's hipper, more wacky (how we love a chance to use the word ‘wacky’) and – yes! – even involves booze, at this new subterranean pop-up at The Vaults in Waterloo. With a nine-hole course featuring loops, half-pipes and an elevated five-foot drop, you’ll need Tiger Woods-style skills to pull off a hole-in-one. And should that fail, you can always console yourself with a themed cocktail at the Caddy Shack clubhouse. Because crazy golf was never meant to be about being on par, y’know.

FOOD: Le Bun at The Zetter
On paper, it possibly shouldn’t work. Linguistically, it probably isn’t accurate (we’re guessing ‘Le Bun’ isn’t authentic French vocab). But believe us when we tell you that this duo of chefs take classic French dishes, give them an American street-food spin, and the results are MAGNIFIQUE. And for the next five weeks, they’re transforming hip Clerkenwell bar The Zetter into a neon-filled French-American diner serving up delicious brioche buns filled with bourguignon and duck frites, plus exclusive dishes like Le Truffle Double Double, involving brisket patties, truffled veal jam, truffle mayo and American cheese. And let’s face it, who needs authenticity when you’ve got brisket, truffle and chese?
