NIGHTLIFE: The Cave Club
If you like your pop psychedelic and your rock tripped-out, we bear you good news. The Cave Club, the much-loved night run by The Horrors bassist Rhys Webb, has found a new home for 2016. In Hackney, would you believe? More specifically, at Moth Club, which this Saturday becomes a melting pot of garage rock, psych-pop, rhythm ’n’ blues and experimental electronics. Mr Webb himself will be spinning the underground sounds, so we suggest you turn up, tune in, wig out.
9 Jan; £6 Moth Club, Valette Street, Hackney E9 6NU
COMEDY: Seymour Mace: Niche as F***
When an anarchic stand-up describes themselves as ‘niche as f***’ (flan? Feet? Feta?) we sit up and pay attention. And when it’s an anarchic stand-up who sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe, was nominated for a Comedy Award, and whose show features a pop-up puppet theatre, demented fluffy toys, knives, guns, bubbles and a series of very funny cartoons… Well, we book tickets right away. And so should you. It’s the only way to find out if Seymour Mace really is niche as feta.
5-16 Jan; £10-£15 Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, W1D 3NE
