EXHIBITION: Fashion Show: 60 Years of Fashion Photography
The organisers of this new Atlas Gallery exhibition are not fans of hyperbole, it would seem. Because, crammed as it is with iconic shots including Kate Moss frolicking in David Hockney’s Mercedes, Twiggy candidly caught in black and white, and Sophia Loren being, well, Sophia Loren – we wouldn't just say this is 60 Years of Fashion Photography. This is 60 Years of utterly unmissable, thoroughly gorgeous, truly flippin’ FABULOUS Fashion Photography. But their way is catchier, we guess.
25 Feb-24 March; free. Atlas Gallery, 49 Dorset Street, W1U 7NF
Fact fans may recall that Damien Hirst’s original Pharmacy restaurant in Notting Hill closed after the Royal Pharmaceutical Society claimed it breached the Medicines Act of 1968, because people would think is was an ACTUAL pharmacy. True story. That’s why this new incarnation is tucked safely away inside his own Newport Gallery, where people are unlikely to bring their prescription slips. The decor is as avant garde as you’d expect, while the menu is curated by Mark Hix and features steak rib burger, monkfish tail and duck curry. Just don’t order a course of antibiotics, OK? We’ve been down that road before.
Open from 23 Feb Pharmacy2, Newport Street Gallery, Newport Street, Vauxhall, SE11 6AJ
