Time to party like
there ain't no work on Monday. Our pick of bank holiday nights out will help
THE STREET PARADE: Notting Hill Carnival
We'll begin with the biggie: an event that really needs no introduction. What's that? You'd like one anyway? OK, how about: sound systems, dance troupes, curried goat, rice n' peas, trumpeters, masquerade, street food, steel drums, feathers galore, DJs, Red Stripe, samba with strangers and one big great almighty street parade? But really we could have done it in one word: CARNIVAL.
28-29 August; free
THE RHYTHM 'N' BOOZE: Hus Av Blues at Oslo
After something a little smoother? A little funkier? Involving salted caramel martinis? Then step this way, friend. Because cool Hackney hangout Oslo is starting its new weekly Hus Av Blues night this very Sunday, where you can tuck into a roast dinner, work your way through the cocktail menu AND take in live acoustic blues from top-drawer performers. Proceedings kick off with the melodic modern soul of tousle-haired Joe Corbin, plus rock n roll and Motown DJs to keep you in the bank holiday mood. Oh, and we did mention that there'll be salted caramel martinis, right…?
