What do you know about San Diego?

Well, if like me, those two words conjur up Ron Burgundy quotes from Anchorman ('Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'), then you might be in need of a quick lesson about the Californian city.

San Diego is famous for its white sandy beaches, the Balboa Park, Seaworld and, oh yeah, this terrifying death trap:

Nicknamed with the adorable title 'potato chip rock', you'd be forgiven for underestimating the sliver of stone's terrifying heights.

Located at the peak of Mount Woodson in Poway, California this rock has become famous among tourists, hikers, Instagrammers and insane thrill seekers who are willing to take an eight-mile hiking trip (which is pretty much an uphill climb, FYI) to see the vast expansion of land visible from the tip of the rock face.

From tree poses and stupid stupid timed jumps (why would you jump?) to naked snaps and 'hilarious' 'I'm hanging off the side, help me'-style photos, it's clear to see why this thin rock has become a hotspot for heath and social media aficionados.

Oh, and for the clinically insane:

To be fair, the picturesque view from the top might just be worth the near-death experience.

Just give us a sick bag, some rope and a parachute and we'll see you at the top.
