It's very rare for us to be totally sold on an event from its title alone. But, come on: Pulp On Ice? We. Are. THERE. There being, more specifically, the ice rink at Alexandra Palace, which this Sunday is being taken over by indie night Feeling Gloomy for a slip-slidey, Jarv-packed spectacular. Waggle your finger like Mr Cocker as you spin around the ice, while the DJ spins all the hits and rarities from Sheffield's finest. All together now: 'Do you want to skate like common people…?'

Thai pop-up-turned-restaurant Som Saa was one of last year's biggest hit openings, with rave reviews and queues around the block. Hard, then, to see how they could make things any better. But, by crikey, they've only gone and done it! Because on the first Saturday of each month, the restaurant is going longer and louder, with an after-hours service of punchy Thai street food (think coconut-smoked grilled chicken with tamarind dipping sauce), specialty cocktails (make ours a Krahang Old Fashioned, please), and top-name DJs taking the tunes into the small hours. House, hip-hop, funk, East African folk – and ice buckets of Thai whisky and soda. That's our kind of menu.
