If you associate the Garage in Highbury with under-18 goths and sticky floors, hold it. Right. There. Because it's been stripped down, scrubbed up and given the full hipster makeover, and this weekend kicks off its revival as north London's leading live music venue. On the ground floor you'll find The General Store, a sleek bar serving cocktails and craft beer (because you gotta have cocktails and craft beer), while upstairs the intimate gig space plays host to live shows and club nights with a cool music policy (Wire, The View and The Coronas are all upcoming). So check it out – but leave your teen-goth wear at home. Well, unless you REALLY want to wear it.

If you're after the delights of an English country garden, it's fair to say that Camden isn't the obvious first port of call. But that's all about to change, our greenery-loving friends. Proud's rooftop has had a major revamp, and now features all manner of lush plants, full decking, water features and landscaped rockeries. And of course, this being Camden, Proud's take on a country garden is that bit cooler, in that here you'll also find acoustic live music, delicious boozy drinks and one of the best burger pop-ups in town. Plus, what other country garden has pounding club nights and burlesque right downstairs…?
