My hasn't Spiritland grown? Seems like only yesterday it was a new King's Cross bar with big dreams (and a world-class soundsystem) - and now here we are, a year on, and it's a tastemaking live-music venue and home to DJ residencies, artist talks, a music store and even a radio production suite. Seems worth celebrating, no? Which is why, to mark its first birthday, it's laying on a week of suitably cool cultural events, including Ash's Charlotte Hatherley playing synth pop and deep electronica, Man Booker Prize winner Roddy Doyle in conversation, and a 'psychedelic immersive audio visual experience' with DJ Food. Hip hip hooray, indeed.

Think Andy Warhol, think... Croydon? Eh? But bear with us ...emerging cultural hub St George's Walk is marking 30 years since the artist's death with a month-long pop-art party, involving a free exhibition of his work at RISEGallery, plus workshops, events and screenings. The pièce de resistance, though, is an outdoor trail of 12 giant tributes by contemporary artists (including graffiti heroes Ben Eine and Dotmaster, and 'popaganda' artist George English) scattered around town. The seemingly drab and everyday turned into pieces of art? Maybe Croydon is more Warhol than you first thought.
