Oh you thought festival season was over? Well you can pull those Hunters right back out from that cupboard where you stashed them, because there's once last field-based fiesta to be had. And it's a good 'un, too. OnBlackheath sees The Libertines, Metronomy, Roisin Murphy, Travis, De La Soul and Craig Charles take to the stage, while top chefs including The Test Kitchen's Adam Simmonds cook up a storm (quite the achievement in the middle of a field) and the Meantime Craft Brewery Bar keeps the party rolling. You can find all this and more… er… on Blackheath. We see what they did there now.

Worry not: this isn't, in fact, a Live Aid-style gig in aid of struggling Sunday paper columnists (Richard Littlejohn can go swivel, frankly). This is, much more marvellously, a giant pop-up living room with giant sofas and gourmet roasts on demand, where writers, poets, musicians and comedians perform their own take on the Sunday Papers. In this 11th edition, the war on truth is discussed by veteran broadsheet writers, the style section is brought to life by performance poets Apple & Snakes, while the culture section sees live performances from 'folk-hop' star Rioghnach Connolly and the Mercury Prize-nominated Sam Lee. Now you don't get that with a The Sunday Times, do you?

Still on a high from this year's Notting Hill Carnival? Then 1) Blimey, how hard did you go? and 2) Good news: you can do it all over again this very weekend. Hackney's answer to west London's higher-profile shindig may be smaller in scale, but packs in good-time vibes pound for pound. Centring on a rum-soaked, sequin-bedecked, steel-drum-wielding soca parade around Queensbridge Road, Richmond Road, Mare Street, Amhurst Road and Dalston Lane, at Ridley St Market you'll also find soundsystems, live bands, food stalls and sh*t-ton of glitter. Let the party continue!
