We like: watching the fireworks over the Thames. We don't like: waiting around in the cold/wet/wind for hours beforehand. Not how we roll. Which is why we're taking the far more stylish – and champagne-fuelled – option and making for the five-star Marriott London County Hall instead. Sitting smack next to the London Eye, it has the best seats in the city come firework o' clock, and rather than standing about in the build-up you can be working your way through a five-course tasting and fizz menu at Gillrays. Seafood/champers/cheeseboard… we're loving 2018 already.

So you fancy a house party, but none of your friends have stepped up and you're not going to risk your upholstery, ta. Well here's a chance to go one better, by going to Bobby Fitzpatrick's house party… in the 1970s. Yep, the nostalgia-packed West Hampstead bar is throwing an era-appropriate do, complete with Studio 54 sounds, potent punch bowls and, we'd hazard a guess, Night Fever moves a-go-go. There's even a 70s kitchen where, under House Party Law, all the action will be happening. Flares and 'fros recommended.

Anyone who has been to Ibiza will know why we're heartily recommending you head to ANTS for NYE. (Anyone who hasn't been to Ibiza, go book some flights for next summer then rejoin us.) You see, ANTS is the hottest residency at the island's hottest open-air club, Ushuaia, taking over Saturdays with its underground techno beats. And now the colony is landing in London, bringing White Isle vibes and big-name DJs including Heidi, Richy Ahmed and Camelphat with them. Don't miss – after all, it's not often you get to compare Brixton to Playa d'en Bossa, is it?
