Planning a destination wedding (or any wedding, for that matter) is hard enough, but what's a bride to do when her perfect venue to say "I do" is a sandbar in the middle of the Caribbean Sea?

That's exactly the kind of ceremony Susana Zamos and her groom, Jovany, who both live in Boston, had in mind for their November 2016 nuptials. Suffice to say, their fantasy wedding idea was met with its fair share of doubt.

"We had a wedding planner who told us, "No! You can't do that! It's far too complicated," Susana says in her wedding video.

Just when the couple were about to give up on the idea, the wedding photographers at Del Sol Photography encouraged them to continue with their plans, according to the Huffington Post.

"The idea of having a whole wedding ceremony in the water was incredible. I could imagine the amazing visuals," says Sol Tamargo, principal photographer. "When do you get to photograph a wedding in the ocean, with a surf board and an altar?"

In Cozumel, Mexico, the couple along with their 100 guests were boated to the El Cielo sandbar in the middle of the Caribbean Sea using just two boats and a catamaran, according to Del Sol Photography's site.

Susanna wore a pink Maggie Sottero wedding dress on the big day, though she had five dresses in total — two she wore to a "trash the dress" session with Tamargo before the wedding.

The photographers fully embraced the challenges of shooting a wedding on the water, utilizing a drone flying from a moving boat to take the stunning aerial shots, while Tamargo herself snapped pictures with large underwater camera.

"I was shooting from the boat, then I jumped into the water wearing a snorkel, mask and wetsuit and mermaid cap," Tamargo says on the site.

In total, a team of eight photographers, videographers, and drone operators helped capture the special day, using three cameras in underwater housings, two "dry cameras," and a DJI X5 in high winds.

For the bride who calls herself a "mermaid," the day couldn't have been more perfect.

"I have always loved the water. I'm a scuba diver and was fortunate enough to grow up with a pool in the backyard and the sea not far away," Susana says on Del Sol Photography's site. "My happiest days were always in the water."
