With the long-anticipated 2024 wedding season well and truly underway, our love for all things weddings, and well, love, has reached a whole new level. Whether it's the effect of Netflix's One Day pulling at our heartstrings, or the sight of wedding dresses at Fendi and Simone Rocha's Haute Couture Shows earlier in the year, we can't help but swoon at the thought of a wedding day.

Whether it's the photographers capturing the magical moments from the day, the understated and modern wedding dresses we keep adding to our Instagram saved lists, or the delicious and ultra modern wedding cakes we're dying to get our forks into, there's almost nothing about weddings we're not a little bit obsessed with.

And don't even get us started on the wedding and engagement rings. As a newlywed, who tied the knot last summer, one of the most exciting tasks on my to-do list was shopping for a wedding band. Platinum, white gold, encrusted with diamonds, the options are endless so it's worth putting some much-needed thought into finding out exactly what you want. After all, a ring is for life (sort of), not just for... a wedding, right?

'Being aware of the setting style of the engagement ring is key,' explains a spokesperson from antique jewellery brand Wave Antiques. 'Some rings are wonderfully low on the finger, but this may mean having to curve the ring around the stones. Wearing the engagement ring on the other hand is always an option or ensuring the engagement ring is "wed-fit".'

We could lose hours just saving ring inspiration to our Pinterest boards. But where do you buy a wedding band?

'Simple plain bands should be cheaper than those more complicated or with stones, so generally thin plain bands are the best option when budgets are tight,' explains a Wave Antiques spokesperson on what to keep in mind when considering your finances.

When it comes to shopping, they suggest 'having a rough idea' before you visit a jewellery shop or attending an appointment, given the plethora of choices on offer, 'but sometimes seeing it in real life next to your engagement ring is the best way'.

Bear Brooksbank

This East London fine jewellery studio has been a favourite of ring lovers ever since opening in 2012, founded by the designer of the same name whose eye is second to none: she trained as an actress and worked in an art gallery before turning her talents to jewellery and training as a gemologist.

Many will recognise her as the designer behind Cressida Bonas' stunning octagonal ruby and diamond engagement ring, but she also works on an individual basis to create bespoke pieces tailored to a specific budget and brief. We particularly love her hand-picked collection of vintage rings, and the simple-yet-modern eternity bands from her Monochrome collection.

Kimaï

You'll likely know the fine jewellery brand Kimaï already, but founders Sidney Neuhaus and Jessica Warch's appearance on Dragon's Den in 2024 (during which they secured a £250,000 investment from entrepreneur Steven Bartlett) certainly helped to elevate the brand's profile.

Famous for its engagement ring collection and curved wedding bands, the lab-grown diamond brand is a firm favourite among shoppers (think Meghan Markle) with a keen interest in environmental consciousness that doesn't compromise on quality. It is currently the only lab-grown diamond brand sold Net-a-Porter and has achieved B-Corp certification.
