Testing the waters (or juices) for wedding weight-loss

A summer holiday is the perfect time to trial a pre-wedding cleanse

Though I would like to think I am several months’ premature in even considering that whole bridal-body-mania, somebody pointed out to me the other day that the wedding is only 5 months away and I’d better snap into wedding gear. And scarily, that seems to mean snapping into bridal shape.
A few weeks ago, with summer here and Ibiza on the horizon it was the perfect time to road test My Detox Diet’s bridal package. My Detox Diet is one of those ingenious companies you call upon when drastic action is needed to kickstart your willpower. A carefully curated 3 day programme of juice, supplements and food can be delivered to your door thus completely removing any need to think – perfect for busy people with jobs to do, weight to lose and weddings to arrange.
The sample package consisted of two days of juice fasting and one day of food, which is the perfect amount for a cleanse of the body and a re-alignment of the attitude. I found the juices to be tasty and balanced, and though I was hungry I wasn’t weak. The food on day three was a welcome relief but felt wholesome and pure, and I found sugar and salt cravings ebbing away.
And actually, I did notice a great difference in myself: my stomach was flat, I felt light and clean and my 3pm flat white lost its appeal.
If only I hadn’t been quite so quick to undo all the good work in Ibiza. Friends who have followed the same programme reported a long-term lessening of sugar cravings, clearer skin and a healthier approach to fitness and diet following the cleanse.

Perhaps a bridal gown rather than a beach will be a more enduring goal. Here’s hoping.
